Diemtigtal

The large side valley of the Simmental valley is the fifth largest municipality in the canton of Bern. Around 2,000 people live in Oey, Diemtigen, Bächlen, Horben, Riedern, Entschwil, Zwischenflüh and Schwenden.

Landscape with streams and lakes

The Filderich and Chirel streams run through the valley. They both flow into the Simme at Oey-Diemtigen. The Seebergsee lake above Zwischenflüh is popular – as well as the Aegelsee lake with its high altitude moorland area at Diemtigbergli (500 metres from the mountain restaurant). The Meienfallseeli lake above Springenboden and the Blauseeli lake in Schwenden are also idyllic.
