Niesen
There are 11,674 steps on the Niesen, and they are open once a year. On the 6th June 2009, Roland Salzmann took one hour, three minutes and seven seconds - and thereby won the 8th Niesen-Treppenlauf with this time.
On all the other days, you can hike or ride on the Niesen. The nostalgic funicular railway, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2010, brings the visitors to the summit over two sections, changing trains in Schwandegg.
