Barbecue sites

Dear Internet surfer, the only thing that you now have to do is to marinate your meat, prepare your salad, pack your bread and crisps and the wine or the mineral water into your refrigerated box - and head for a barbecue site. Here are a few possible sites to choose from:

Brätlistelle (barbecue site) Seewise, Thun-Einigen: Between Gwatt-Zentrum and Kandergrien, directly on the lake. The barbecue site is open to the public, and there is also a mobile snack bar on the site in the summer months. Visitors who do not live in the Spiez municipality have to pay CHF 3.--. Getting there by public transport:  STI-Bus No. 1 from Thun railway station to the "Chanderbrügg" stop, and then along a short footpath .

Grillplatz (barbecue area) Strättligburg, Thun-Gwatt: Ideal for parties and events for up to 50 persons. Anyone who wants to go to the castle will need a key, which can be obtained  in the Thunerhof of the City of Thun at Hofstettenstrasse 14. Cost: CHF 120.--. Information by telephone on 033 225 82 73.

Brätlistelle Tropfsteinhöhlen, Thun-Allmendingen: Lies in the wood and river landscape. Two large barbecue sites on the right and left of the Glütschbach stream, directly next to the Tropfsteinhöhlen (limestone caves). The use of the site is free, but it can only be reached by private transport.

Forsthaus (forest cabin) Burech, Hilterfingen: Can be rented for family celebrations, club and company events. Cost: CHF 180.—per day. Information on telephone no. 033 243 43 12.

Forsthaus Bloch, Oberhofen: Above the Bloch area, with a marvellous view of Lake Thun and the Spiez Bay. Only for local people or clubs.

Brätliplatz auf der Egg, Därligen: Public barbecue site. A wonderful place with a great atmosphere.

Grillplatz Stampf, Sigriswil: Marvellous view of the Niesen. Public barbecue site. For those who would like to barbecue without making a reservation, wood is available from an automatic dispenser. Cost CHF 5.--. Reservation by telephone on 033 251 28 43.
